Hey all.

In a follow-up to my last topic in this category, I now have some questions about doing a system restore. I don't think this is gonna solve my computer problem, but it's worth a try.

I've already backed up the files that I needed to back up, but what else will be affected? Will I have to reinstall anything like AIM, MSN, SKYPE... JAWS?

Thanks,
Becky

Hi Becky,
To answer your question, no, you should not have to reinstall anything! A system restore will merely restore your computer to an earlier time, but it should not delete any of your files/programs. I'd just recommend try to restore it to the most recent time you can before the changes took place, it will help if you know exactly what may have affected your computer. Anyway, hope I answered your question, but if you need any further assistance, I can try to help you.

System restore may remove some programs, it depends on the time that you select to restore to.
Your computer (unless told otherwise) automaticly creates system restore points out of the blue and just before you install a program.
For example, if you had just installed adobe reader but chose to go to a restore point before that installation, adobe would not be useable.
Remember that system restore will only remove programs that have been installed after the restore point that your using was created, so, if you had jfw installed when it was made, it will still be intact.

Yeah, if you're talking about doing a system restore like taking the operating system off the computer, then it is a good idea that you have all your data,(especially the important stuff backed up. -Dom
